Place That Face

Entrepreneurial
A real-time, feasible solution to matching celebrity images from your screen, using just your phone!
Often times, you may consume some element of media on your screen whether it is a movie or show, and not know who the celebrity is within that. Place That Face is a mobile application built for both iOS and Android platforms, which aims to tackle this problem in an intelligent manner, using a machine learning facial recognition algorithm and data analysis to quickly identify the celebrity via image captured or uploaded. Users can generate their own profile based on their genre preferences, which can help further narrow down the celebrity they may want to identify. The application offers many notable features such as being able to bookmark search results, and see where these celebrities may have worked, in other movies or shows. Aside from celebrity identification, the aim of this application is to cater these results to the individual using this application, hence the intelligence or AI being used.

The goal of this application is not only to cater to avid media consumers that are keen to identify celebrities, but also to simply demonstrate that this could be the Google for celebrity images, and though similar technologies and infrastructure have been built and deployed, it is worth exploring how applications of such resources can be leveraged to build a product that targets a specific niche, and builds a community of committed users. The feedback of the users is also highly considered for improving the accuracy for matches made in the future, and for an overall better user experience.
