Study Buddy is a designed-for-mobile web application featuring a chatbot powered by machine learning that answers questions based on the content of your textbook.
The purpose of this application is to provide scope to our users’ research. Searching for a definition or an explanation in a resource that is not the class textbook can often be overwhelming, inaccurate, and out of scope for what the class teaches. By limiting the research to the content of the textbook, users can learn based on exactly what resources the professor prescribed. Users will scan the pages of their textbook, or upload the ebook, and our machine learning algorithms will give meaning and a weight to each word. This allows the user to ask a question, such as “What is the difference between osmosis and diffusion,” and then quickly receive a response based on what our chatbot recognizes as the best explanation, directly from the textbook.
