2017-2018 Senior Project - Operation Exodus

Project Title Operation Exodus is an immersive, virtual reality, cooperative stealth game focusing on communication between two players to help solve puzzles, fight artificial intelligence based enemies, and interacting with the world environments. One player will be using the virtual reality headset to navigate through the game in order to complete the objectives. Another player will be on the computer, assisting the other player through "hacking" systems in the game, which allows them to find the optimal solution for the player to complete the objectives. Operation Exodus will allow players to simulate situations that could be found in spy movies, which allow players to improve their communication skills whilst having fun.

Mock Agent View

Mock of visual state of Agent View in simulated environment. Contextual tooltips displayed for a mock tool (bottom, showing capacity of tool remaining), and example of superimposed highlighting generated by an action from Operator View (center-right, orange block). In addition, a blue door can be seen, which is a simulated analogue, an element that serves as an interaction hook that can change the state of the simulation via use of the simulated actuators (motion-tracked hardware controllers).

Mock Operator View

Below is a mock screenshot of the Operator’s point of view. This view has noticeably more options than that of the Agent’s. On top left is the Operator skill menu. The Operator has three menus: Door Options, Power Options, and Boosters. Upon clicking a menu, the menu will maximize showing all of its choices, and any previously maximized menus will minimize. Each choice has an associated power cost, which can only be obtained by item collections from the agent’s side. At the bottom of the view is a recharge state. Each skill uses a considerable amount of energy from the Operator, and the player needs to recharge before using another skill. This recharge happens automatically. On the bottom left is the mini map. Only the Operator can view this mini map, which shows enemies in a 360 degree view beyond what can be seen by the agent. Behind all these menus is a live camera feed from the agent. The Operator can see everything that the agent can see, but cannot control it..
