Age of Charles & Sarah is given as 25 but known to be rounded. Joseph Hodgkin (15), also bricklayer, may be living with them -- poss Sarah’s brother. 236

1851 Charles (38) is living with second wife Eliza (29), children Emma (13), Thomas (12), William (10), and a large number of other people (men seem to be bricklayers as well) in Rail Hut No. 8, Bassingthorpe, Lincolnshire. Birthplace is given as Womenswold!237

1861 Charles (47) is living with wife Eliza (39) daughter Emma (23), and son William (20), in Church st, Swann Inn Basford. Birthplace is given as Lester, Wimeswold. 238

1871 Charles (58) is living with wife Eliza (49) at “The Elms”, Elm Grove, Preble House in Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Birthplace is given as Wimeswould, Rutland 239

1881 entry shows a Charles Wootton as a patient in "Portsea Island Borough Lunatic Asylum" Portsea, Hampshire, England” This Charles died in 1887 -- lists occupation as “excavator.” The age is a reasonable fit (DoB 1811) and birth location is given as Loughboro, Leicestershire. 240

Evidence of relationship based on transcribed parish birth register entry and descendants linked to Nottingham branch. Also listed as parents of William Wootton (m. Martha Reavill) in Irene Bates’ genealogical info.241 Bates suggests birth date is 1816.

Check to see if this is beginning of A-line Woottons. By the time of the 1841 census, Charles was 29 years old -- and there is NO Charles Wootton in Wymeswold in 1841 or later census records. Consistent with LDS marriage in IGI record --25 yrs old in Jan 1837

RESEARCH
Sarah was born “out of county” [not in Leicestershire] in 1841 census and may have died in Lincolnshire or anywhere that Charles was working. Age at death would have been 25-35 but with no children after William (born 1840) and three in a row, chances are that she died closer to 1841 than 1851.

Bates’ genealogical information gives birthplace as “Nole, Warwickshire” but that is the birthplace of Sarah Warner, wife of Samuel Wootton (Charles brother). 241

Can confirm little about Eliza. She exists in several census entries (1851 through 1871), but can’t find birth date (~1822) and possible entries for marriage and death certificates are dubious. More work needs to be done.
