Structural Inspection Tool

Project Title

Structural inspection is a task that hasn’t caught up with the times. Typically, inspections involve a junior member of an organization going to a site, taking notes regarding the issues he/she sees, and filing an official report when he/she gets back to headquarters. There is virtually no support behind the inspectors to help them do their job. Often, an area of concern is glossed over because the inspector is not aware of, or capable of understanding, problems outlined in previous reports. Furthermore, recording defects on paper takes both hands… a luxury some inspectors can’t afford. If an inspector could record what they see using one or no hands, both the inspector’s safety and ability to record defects would increase. In this mobile era, a software solution could easily help these inspectors perform more comprehensive inspections, with less chance of error. This is where Structural Inspection Tool (SIT) comes in.
