The Geographic Information systems and Spatial Analysis Laboratory at Drexel University houses a server network that consists of two IBM System x3650 M3 Servers, each with dual Intel Xeon X5650 processors at 2.67 GHz and 16 GB of memory. Each of the Xeon chips has six physical cores and are accompanied by a logical Hyper-Threaded core creating 12 execution units for applications. The Intel 5520 motherboard includes Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Trusted Encryption Technology (TXT) which offer increased data encryption and better protection against malware by running applications in their own memory space. 5 terebytes of RAID 6 storage is available on the GISSA server network. GISSA servers are housed in a highly secure, climate controlled facility within the College of Information Science and Technology.
