Research Opportunities

Current Openings for PhD students (fully funded): I am currently recruiting motivated students interested in doing research in human-computer interaction (HCI), specifically emerging interaction modes and techniques such as brain-computer interfaces, physiological/wearable computing, affective computing, tangible interaction, and reality-based interaction. Many of my projects also involve applying machine learning techniques to human-computer interaction, and/or human interaction with complex and autonomous systems and vehicles. Before contacting me, please take a look at my research page and my publications.

Drexel’s College of Computing and Informatics in Philadelphia is an exciting place to study human-computer interaction, with around 30 outstanding faculty (listed here). Drexel offers both an Information Studies Ph.D. program and Computer Science Ph.D. program. I am on the faculties of Computer Science, Human-Centered Computing, and Informatics & Data Science. If you are applying to one of the doctoral programs, and are interested in working in my group, make sure to indicate this as well as your research interests in your essay. Apply here!

Drexel undergraduate or Masters students: If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to contact me and provide information about your background and interests, as well as your CV or resume. I currently have projects for students interested in human-computer interaction, brain-computer interfaces, machine learning, feature selection, and/or signal processing.
