Kate Masterton, President
Kate is pursuing her MSLIS at Drexel's iSchool. Kate Masterton is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan but before moving to Philadelphia she lived in Richmond, Virginia. Kate is currently enrolled in the Drexel University MLS program part-time so that she can work full-time at the Drexel University Hahnemann Health Sciences Library. She has previous paid and unpaid experience in academic, public, and state libraries.
Annalise Berdini, President Elect
Currently pursuing an MLIS degree with a concentration in Digital Libraries and Archives, Annalise is from Cherry Hill, NJ and earned a BA in English/Secondary Education from TCNJ. She has had a variety of experience in both public and special libraries, and is currently working as an intern at Hagley Museum and Library. When not working or studying, Annalise enjoys practicing yoga, reading comics, and going to concerts.
Erin DeFord, Vice President
Pursuing an MSLIS degree with a concentration in archives, Erin is originally from Illinois where she received her bachelors in History and French from Monmouth College. Erin would like to use her knowledge of French in her career one day. In addition, Erin is a roller derby gal!
Rachel Korman, Treasurer
Rachel is a recent ex-pat who is new to Drexel University and Philadelphia itself. Born and raised in Toronto, she is studying at Drexel with the hopes of becoming a public librarian someday soon. She previously received her BA in Geography at the University of Toronto. When she is not studying or cataloguing for the Philly Zine Library, she is cooking/eating, exploring, petting animals, and trying to make Philly feel like home.
Brendan Johnson, Corresponding Secretary & Public Relations Chair
Brendan Johnson is currently a part-time student in the MSLIS program in the Drexel University iSchool. He graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelors Degree in History and Education. After pursuing a career as a teacher, he began working and volunteering in school, academic and special libraries before accepting a position working at Drexel University Hagerty Library. He is interested in staying in Academic Libraries, though he enjoys teaching. When not working, he enjoys running and watching sports.
Siobhan Cerny, Recording Secretary
Siobhan Cerny, currently a MSLIS candidate part time student at Drexel University’s iSchool. Siobhan currently works full time at Philadelphia based law firm. She is flirting with the idea of an archives concentration but is also interested in law librarianship. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Scranton in secondary education and history.
Maeryn Obley, Communications Chair
Maeryn Obley was an undergraduate student at Kutztown University, where she obtained a degree in environmental science. Currently, she attends Drexel University's iSchool, and has as her main interests archives and digital libraries. Her hobbies include making jewelry and playing the cello.
Meena Jain, Regional Coordinator: Boston
Meena started at Drexel in April 2013 and is looking forward to getting her degree in December. As with most people in the program, she has always loved to read and spend much time in libraries. As a resident of Massachusetts, Meena is enjoying the online aspect of Drexel, but misses seeing classmates, exchanging stories and sharing strategies in person. Because of this, Meena decided she would like to help DUSLA organize more events in her area. In response, DUSLA created the "Regional Coordinator" position for iSchool students in areas outside of Philadelphia. Meena is DUSLA's first Regional Coordinator, for Boston, MA.
Amber Paranick, Regional Coordinator: Washington, D.C.
Amber is a reference specialist in the Library of Congress's Newspaper & Current Periodical Reading Room. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is currently enrolled in iSchool's Post-Master's Certificate Program in Archival Studies. She works part time at the retail clothing store, Anthropologie, and co-owns the online vintage clothing store, Drew & Olive Petites. She's a budding fashion designer and a self-proclaimed Bikram yoga addict.
Tim Siftar, Faculty Adviser
An information professional for close to twenty years, Tim has served as the Reference Librarian and Subject Specialist for Education, Information Science & Technology at Drexel University's Hagerty Library since 2003. His industry background includes knowledge and IT project manager roles as well as analyst positions in market research and innovation centers. He is an active member of the Special Libraries Association Philadelphia Chapter where he is the chairperson for career guidance and student relations. Tim received both his MSLIS and MSIS from Drexel's iSchool in 1997.
